Thesis Title: Optimal Placement of Sensor and Actuator for Active Vibration Control of Smart Structures

Dr Intan Zaurah Mat Darus

About

This research will provide a means of theoretical predictions via simulations, thus enhancing the understanding on how soft computing techniques acts as an active hybrid controller for the vibration problem of structures. Any other developed active vibration controller will have to take consideration on the performance of soft computing techniques used in this study. Immense benefits from this research can be anticipated and cannot be underestimated. A better, generalized, controller algorithm for vibration suppression can be produced and later can be commercialized. Further, this research can and should be extended to consider the benefit and performance of thus developed controller algorithm for different applications. This research on active vibration control using soft computing techniques is important because there is no existing specific theory on the algorithm especially for intelligent controller.
